Is it possible to join two fabrics together without a sewing machine?

0 votes
I have left over fabric from reupholstering some chairs, and I just recently found a cedar chest with a seat on top. I would really like to use some of the fabrics I useful on the other chairs, but I don't have one single piece that's big enough. I was wondering if they could be joined together. If they can, would they be strong enough to go on the seat of my cedar chest.

Better to take it to an upholstery place , one that has a Serger industrial sewing machine. and let them sew it together. The sewing machine sounds like a machine gun. Tell them what you want and they can do it. A place that repairs canvas tents...or upholster trucks...as they sew fabric into a wood like backing. It may take them 15 minutes to do it. And you are done.
. They will suggest the best way to do this for you.

You can hand sew. But if you have never hand sewn before, you may not do a good job on it.
My concern is having a seam across the seat of a chair, that may not look very good.

Well, let me ask you something:
Do you know how to sew by hand?
If not, can someone teach you - it is not difficult.

You can enlarge a piece of fabric with a strip or two of another fabric - something that you would look nice with the original fabric.

I have done this with sewing decorative pillows for our garden furniture.
Where there is a will, there is a way.

Wishing you success with your project.
