Will my home insurance cover me for an issue as a result of previous owners actions?

I recently bought a house and all seemed fine. The upstairs ceiling is now damp due to the loft insulation being saturated with water. The reason is because the previous owner had disconnected the extraction fan so even though I make sure windows are open when showering, moisture is escaping to the loft without being extracted. This isn't my fault but is due to previous owners actions. Will I still be covered?

Have lived in many residences - never had one that I couldn't HEAR the fan running: if I didn't hear anything, I would investigate. You didn't. Now looking for someone else to blame. Doesn't work that way.

Covered for what?
Was this not discovered during the inspection?
And in any case, it is your responsibility to reconnect the fan
