How long do eyes normally stay dilated after visiting the ophthalmologist?
Should I be concerned if they stay dilated longer than a day? How long does it take for vision to return to normal?

Depends on the individual.Variables include iris color and pigment density, the type of dilating drop used and its concentration and metabolic efficiency.
So 2 hours to 1 week.
You shouldn't be concerned. It is common for the eyes to be dilated the day after.Especially in individuals with lighter color irises.
They will go back to normal.Don't worry.

Had eyes dilated for exam. Why do my pupils still stay so big for such a long time afterwards- even after my vision returns to normal?
The medications used to dilate the pupils may linger in your system and the pupils can stay dilated longer even though your vision is relatively improved as your body gets accustomed to the amount of light entering with dilated pupils.

Eye Care Providers (either ophthalmologists or optometrists) dilate eyes with drops. These drops vary from provider-to-provider. Some use drops that are uniform for the kind of problem that patient has.

For many providers, the same dosage or kind of drops are used equally whether it is a general examination for which no medical history risks or an examination to treat the eye with medicine or surgery.  Thus the pupil may react differently  because each patient may react differently to these drops. But providers tend to use the same drops no matter what the circumstances are.

In summary, it is not unusual for pupils to remain dilated even a day after the appointment.
