How do I drop out of highschool at 18?
Do I just not show up? Or do I have to fill out paperwork or something like that?
Update: My friend told me its illegal to not show up without letting your school know.

You are required by law to live with a parent or legal guardian until age 16 in most places. After that, nobody really cares what you do except that schools get paid according to attendance, so it's money in their coffers to tell any lie that will keep you attending. Other than that, school is only an all day babysitting service, supervised play, a place to keep you until you are old enough to put in prison. You are free but nobody is going to tell you that. Hit the road, get a job, get your life started, do something, do anything except don't get caught stealing stuff. Every year millions of young people hit the road, head for a warm climate, work odd jobs to support themselves, and learn how the real world works.

How do I drop out of high school?
So, firstly, I don't want to hear that I shouldn't do this, because I know that I should and I will one way or another; I have a total plan for my future, which I don't care to explain, as I don't want to write an essay. Now, in New York State, what are the requirements for this? I know that being 18 is one and having a GED is another, but are there any others? Secondly, when I get a GED, would I automatically be a legal drop out, or is there something else that I need to do? And, finally, how do I get a GED in New York State?

Alright, I know a bum who did this.
You do NOT need to 18.
You would need parental cooperation.
So the guy I know is from NYC but NYS is pretty similar (probably less stringent).'
So the Legal dropout age is 17. That is, a student of years 6-16 must attend school in NYS.
New York Education Code, § 3205. Attendance of minors upon full time day instruction.
1.
a. In each school district of the state, each minor from six to sixteen years of age shall attend upon full time instruction.
So if you're 17 just get a GED (now officially the HESC (High School Equivalency Diploma)) and you're OK. Its a really easy test and you can register online.
If you're 16, you can enroll in homeschool which is really easy and just fill out some papers every quarter saying what you're doing. Then when you turn 17 do the above.
Good Luck, but I still reccomend you don't drop out
