Ray-Bans brand sunglasses are stylish while providing eye protection from the sun. If one of the plastic lenses on your Ray-Bans becomes scratched, these need not be replaced because the lenses can be repaired with etching cream. To repair the scratched plastic on Ray-Bans brand sunglasses yourself, use common household items as well as supplies from a jeweler’s store or optical lens store.

Step 1
Run tap water over the scratched Ray-Bans brand sunglasses’ lens to remove loose dirt. Wipe the lens with a soft cloth, using slow circular motions. Let the Ray-Bans air dry before continuing.

Step 2
Apply etching cream to the tip of a cotton swab. Place the tip of the cotton swab against the lens, to one side of the scratch. Press down on the lens, firmly but gently, and drag the swab across the length of the scratch. Lift the swab off the lens at the other side of the scratch.

Step 3
Wet an edge of another soft cloth with cold tap water. Place the edge of the cloth against the lens to one side of the scratch. Press down firmly on the lens as you drag the cloth along the length of the scratch. Lift the scratch off the lens once you reach the other side of the scratch. Repeat this process an additional four times.

Step 4
Angle the lens so that you can see if the scratch is still visible. If the scratch can still be seen, reapply etching cream and repeat the process with the cloth again.

Step 5
Spray the lens with lens cleaner. Wipe the lens with another soft cloth, using slow circular motions. Let the lens air dry before putting on the Ray-Bans.

Well, you are not supposed to remove the scratches by yourself. As we know that ray ban sunglasses are very famous for its good quality and beautiful design. But on the other hand, because they are just glasses, it is hard to remove the scratches on them. if you do it by yourself, it will very dangerous for you to destroy them. In some cases, they can not be worn any more. So just not do it. By the way. They were the first company to actually design eyewear that was intended to protect the eyes from the sun while still looking good. Frames made of carbon fiber are ideal for sunglasses because it allows them to be very lightweight while at the same time being both strong and flexible. This is also the advantage of ray ban sunglasses.

Usually, If you want to remove the scratches from sunglasses/eyeglasses lenses, most of the ways of removing scratches is to remove their lenses coating. That because the scratches are usually caused by coating. So, i not recommend you to do it. If you want your eyes protected by the ray ban sunglasses, you'd better buy another pair of sunglasses.

It is a pity that there is no way to get the scratches out of the surface of the sunglasses by yourself. The method of using the toothpaste is not working. You can bring it to the eyeglasses store and let the professional workers to do the change of the coating part of the sunglasses. That will be OK.

Ray ban aviator sunglasses are made by glasses, scratches on glass lenses are almost impossible to get rid of because these blemishes cut deep into the glass itself. The only possibility of removing a scratch in this scenario is if the lenses are treated with a scratch-resistant coating. If so, applying some lens cleaning solution with a microfiber cloth might take care of the problem. But if the lenses are not scratch resistant, you'll be out of luck.

Scratches Ray-Ban sunglasses can be repaired through various methods such as applying brass or silver polish, toothpaste, water mixed with baking soda, vehicle wax or lemon pledge. Before having the sunglasses repaired by a professional, there are numerous possible home remedies that may repair the scratch. Brass or silver polish can be soaked onto a cotton ball and then rubbed onto the scratch to try to buff the scratch out. It's important to remove any leftover polish, or any applicant for that matter, with a soft, clean cloth, so it doesn't dry and stick to the lens. A similar technique can be used with toothpaste, in fact. Make sure that the toothpaste isn't abrasive and contains no mint flavoring, whitening agents or gel, as greater damage to the lenses could occur. By rubbing the toothpaste into the scratch with a cotton ball and then rinsing off the toothpaste ten seconds later, the scratch may be easily repaired. Mixing one part water with two parts of baking soda is another way to make a paste. The technique is similar to using toothpaste, where rubbing it into the crack and letting it sit for ten seconds before washing it off can help to remove scratches. Vehicle wax and lemon pledge can also be used to buff out scratches. If these techniques do not work, though, the scratches may be too deep to repair with home remedies.

Scratched Ray-Ban sunglasses can be repaired through various methods such as applying brass or silver polish, toothpaste, water mixed with baking soda, vehicle wax or lemon pledge. Also, the Ray-Ban company offers a repair service for damaged Ray-Bans without a warranty. The company charges a non-refundable processing fee, but does notify the customer of the expected repair cost before fixing the sunglasses.

A combination of ash and moisture rubbed onto the surface will work for scratched lenses. I use a tiny bit of WD-40 and cigar ash for the perfect scratch fix formula.

Good luck, I hope this helps!
Well you could run over them then replace the lenses. That's what my hubby did when he turned a corner too fast and they slid across the dashboard and out the open window:(
Any abrasive, like the baking soda mixture will "sand" the glass itself, you just need to polish it further with a soft and mild abrasive after the initial application of the backing soda mixture and buff it with a cotton cloth for a while. Deeper scratches will not be fixable. Either that or buy a new pair or in the hopes of not offending any very sensitive souls donate the costs to a non profit.

You know sometimes some people forget that we have to relax and just remember that it's just a question, nothing more.

Hope you get them fixed Paul, good luck, they are really cool sunglasses.
The most effective method is to use a good metal polish like "Brasso". It does take quite a long time to polish scratches out of glass, but it is well worth the effort. Whatever you do, don't use metal polish on plastic lenses. It will permanently ruin them. Good luck !
hehe, you can just buy a new one. (just kidding) - here's a tip i found from ehow.com

- Use baking soda to remove scratches on your sunglasses. Mix 1 part water to 2 parts baking soda to create a creamy paste. Use the cotton cloth to distribute the paste onto the scratched lens. Use a circular motion to rub the baking soda paste into the lens. Rinse with lukewarm water. More stubborn scratches warrant a second application.
