Does a personal hotspot use more data?

If you've recently answered one of my questions, you know that I'm hunting for a data plan.

This time I'm wondering about personal hotspots. My question is: I would like to create a personal hotspot for my friend to do simple web searching. Just wen searching, no streaming, or watching video just for example reading an artical.

Would that use more data than it would normally?

Thanks in advance!

Nope it will just use the regular data. But do keep it in mind that if you're friend is going to use a browser from a computer, the webpages maybe bigger and that uses more data. So if your friend uses some web browser tool (opera has it) that compresses data on their servers before loading a page on your friends computer, it will not use too much of data.
